From all treatments for warts, the swift machine is different.
Traditionally, in clinic, warts were treated by burning / freezing or using a combination of in clinic and home therapies. Swift delivers a short but sharp energy dose into the infected tissue i.e. the wart. The swift only goes to a predetermined depth of tissue leaving the surface intact.
How does Swift work?
Swift wakes up the immune system, allows the body to respond and fight back- clearing warts in sites that have not yet been treated.
No surgery or skin invasion means less down time and possibility of scar tissue, thereby less interruptions to daily life and visits to the podiatrist long term.
Most patients can continue with their usual activities straight after treatment.
A recent clinical trial saw a 76% resolution of warts. In these cases, all warts were long standing, some being present for over 10 years and where other treatment options had failed.
Swift therapy is safe on children, often with quicker resolution of the wart. Precautions are followed for those with metal pins/plates in a joint, patients with pacemakers, neuropathy, immunosuppression, pregnancy, poor healing, peripheral neuropathy.
How many sessions are required?
Initially, you are required to have 3 sessions, 2 weeks apart, allowing your body to initiate an immune response. Thereafter, a follow up session will be required after 3 months post treatment to evaluate if any other treatment is necessary.
Does Swift Therapy Hurt?
Like many other treatment options, discomfort does occur, however, it generally lasts for a short amount of time, 1-2 seconds and then it disappears. However, straight after treatment life can continue as usual, returning to sport, leisure and work.
Will the wart return?
Once the wart is gone, it is usually gone. However, this does not mean that you cannot get another wart in the future. Remember it is a viral infection.
